6th and 7th Bn. took part in the campaign at Anzio and the Gothic Line in support of the 56th (London) Division and the 5th Division during March, September and October 1944.

Salerno

The 6th Bn. of the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment also took part in the assault landings in support of 167, 169 Brigades and 201 Guards Brigade on 9th September 1943 and the battle up to 17th September.
